Zentangle® in Psychology Today: Calm Down and Get Your Zentangle On
There is a good article by art therapist, Cathy Malchiodi, in Psychology Today. I like that she has emphasized that part of what makes for a good practice is ritual. The Zentangle Method is indeed a ritual and ritual is important to the meditative, therapeutic aspect of the practice.
Although many begin Zentangle from books and videos, this aspect of the practice is often overlooked. One of the best ways to learn how to incorporate it into your practice is to take a class from a Certified Zentangle Teacher.

With a minimum of 8 paying guests the host will also receive a valuable free gift. The host provides the venue and guests along with an optional snack after the workshop.
The number of attendees is limited only by the space available, which must include a flat work surface (typically a table) with good lighting for each guest. I am available for home parties during the week and on weekends, in both daytime and evenings. Email me to plan your home hosted party.

Halloween Pumpkins
Pumpkins are a natural at this time of year. I buy the little ones, which even come in white. I have to admit I am partial to the orange ones about 5 or 6 inches tall.
I love making them and giving them away. I have given away all the pumpkins that I tangled so far this year and forgot to photograph them. But to see the photos of pumpkins from last year, click here.

Zentangle at From the Heart Yoga and Tai Chi Center
Such a lovely day at From the Heart on Saturday and nineteen wonderful students engaged deeply in the Zentangle practice. We opened the doors to the back garden and breathed the fresh June air.
Here is a mosaic of the first tile the students produced.
Below is the mosaic of the second tile. There are two shots because one student was so intent on continuing, her tile did not get into the first photo.

Prerequisites for Organic Garden Tangle Class
Prerequisites are both Basics and Beyond Basics classes. Organic Garden Tangles requires more independence, that is, more experience tangling than other classes.
First meetings of the Organic Garden Tangles classes are May 6 and May 8.
What should you do if you have completed only one or neither prerequisiste?
Both prerequisites are offered twice;
Thurs. May 1: Basics 9-11:30 .a.m.
Beyond Basics 1-3:30 p.m.
Sat. May 10: Basics 9-11:30 .a.m.
Beyond Basics 1-3:30 p.m.
If you choose the second option, you will not have Beyond Basics class until after the first meeting of the Organic Garden Tangles class. That is OK. You may register anyway for the Organic class Sequence and should be fine as long as you have completed the Beyond Basics class prior to the second meeting of the Organic Garden Tangles class that meets on either May 27 or May 29.
Feel free to email me with questions gtangles@gmail.com.
